Outreach Cluster focuses on advancing God’s kingdom work in the church, in our community, in our country and in the world. This involves a wide range of activities including evangelism, sports programs, feeding and caring for the poor, assisting children, supporting fellow Christians and missionaries, building houses, building and repairing churches, and going wherever God calls us to go.

Great Year of Service Brochure

Sweep Your Closets Clean

It’s a fresh new year and January is a great month to Sweep Your Closets Clean of those items that are no longer wanted or are simply taking up space.  Let us help you find a new home for your past treasures.  Contact Sharon Humphrey at sharonghumphrey@comcast.net  or the church office at church.office@mtzionumc.org for additional information.  We have two opportunities to participate in the January sweep.

We will be collecting the following items during the month of January:

Weeks of January 1-14 – Gently worn shoes for Soles4Souls, a not-for-profit global social enterprise committed to fighting poverty through the collections and distribution of shoes and clothing.  Currently, their greatest need is for gently worn shoes (including mismatched pairs or single shoes).  Once received, their team sorts through the shoes, cleans them, and then decides which country the shoes will go to based on what the need is in each area.

Weeks of January 15-28 The mission of Simple Needs GA is to meet the simple needs of children, people experiencing homelessness, low-income families, and others in need in Cobb County, while inspiring our community to do the same.  We are collecting new and gently used towels, blankets, sheets, comforters, small kitchen utensils, pots and pans (especially larger), casserole dishes, new and slightly used candles.
